The Rio Negro, named for its dark, tannin-rich waters, is one of the Amazon’s great rivers and one of the most direct ways to reach the rainforest from Manaus, the gateway city to the Brazilian Amazon. Along its banks live ribeirinho communities: river-dwelling families who have lived with the forest for generations and who today welcome travelers as part of everyday life.
A trip on the Rio Negro brings together freshwater river beaches, igarapés (narrow rainforest streams), forest trails, and the Anavilhanas National Park, one of the largest river archipelagos in the world, with more than 400 islands. It’s a destination that combines landscape, silence, and a genuine encounter with Amazonian life, without giving up comfort or safety.

On the Rio Negro, Poranduba works with long-standing partner communities where the residents themselves lead the experiences. Around 35 families live from community-based tourism here, which means every trip generates direct income for the people who call this region home.
Each itinerary is organized from start to finish, transport, accommodation, meals, and activities. Travelers arrive at their hotel in Manaus, and from there the entire logistics are handled by us.
